Rich black fig- Mt Etna type. This fig has been growing in a small village near Denver, PA, which was surprising as this is a PA German area. The original tree is supposedly at least 80-100 years old. There is a story that it was left as a rallying landmark for the Underground Railroad, since the town, itself, was a landmark for the Underground Railroad. Down south, fig trees were very common, but here, particularly in this PA German area, they are very uncommon. I am still following the accuracy of this story.
