Pack #1 - Early Bird Assortment Pack (#1 for the Northeast)

$65.00 USD

Packs consist of 10 total cuttings – five (5) fig tree varieties with two (2) cuttings of each – that are ideal for growing in Zones 6-7. (See below for varieties contained in this pack.)

All cuttings contained in the pack are from fig trees that have grown in-ground and unprotected here in Lancaster, PA (Zone 6B) and have fruited fairly well for a number of consecutive years. (Protection would no doubt increase yield substantially, but we have been happy with the dependable volume we get every year.) As a result of in-ground growing, the thickness of the cuttings is much better than container-grown trees – these cuttings are large, heavy and full of energy!

Early Birds Assortment Pack includes:

  • Marseilles Black VS »One of the most dependable Mt. Etna types that really has excellent winter resistance and is super productive.
  • RdB » This unique fig has striking beauty and delicious, almost raspberry flavor. It has a thin jet-black skin with strawberry interior. This is an excellent choice for the Northeast because it is very early. It is probably one of the earliest figs to ripen in my collection. It can split with rain, but that is its only flaw.
  • Florea »One of the earliest ripening figs. Good flavored fig with excellent hardiness very good winter resistance to dieback. For 7 years this has been the first fig to ripen. It is a heavy producer despite its moderate growing habit. A must have for cold climates.
  • Teramo » Among the earliest ripening figs with great production. Has remarkable winter hardiness. A must-have for the NE grower
  • Yellow  Long Neck» Interesting shape, color and flavor. Very large fig that has very good potential for in-ground culture in the NE as it is mid-season. Very high yield here.
