Erntedank Lingonberry

We have run out of stock for this item.

These self-fruitful plants are exceptionally hardy and are the flavor in the famous Swedish fish candy. They are tart, but have some complex sweetness that is delightful as juice, jelly, additions in pancakes, bread, muffins, etc. While they are related to the cranberry, they are much more flavorful and less sour.

They are a wonderful ground cover plant that spread through runners (but are not invasive). They require acidic soil (like blueberry bushes – and make an excellent companion plant). The acidic conditions can be attained by using peat moss, decomposed pine needles and sulfur. They need some shade and are great to grow on the north side of homes. They can also be grown in containers if space is limited.
