Paw Paw 3rd-Year Seedling

$15.00

We have run out of stock for this item.

These paw paw trees were grown from seed along the Susquehanna river in the largest paw paw patch in the US north of the 39th parallel. Paw paw trees like sunny spots, well-draining soil, and require cross pollination, so two trees are necessary for good fruit production. They are very hardy and can be directly planted in ground. They produce large mango shaped fruit with a lovely vanilla custard (some say banana flavor). It is a very tropical looking slender tree that doesn’t take up a lot of space at maturity.

Also available are the grafted varieties from the Peterson collection and the KSU breeding program. These are grafted and despite being small now, will fruit much faster than wild seedlings.
